RD401 ShockLog Remote Indicator System

The ShockLog Remote Indicator Units (RIU) are a valuable resource for any company wishing to implement and operate the monitoring of goods and products where the recording device is required to be embedded within the ‘heart’ of a product or package. The ShockLog RIU provides a facility for communicating to the RD298 ShockLog and viewing the current status of both the unit itself and the alarms.

A remote indicator system is made up of a series of modules that can be pulled together in order to create a solution for almost any remote monitoring criteria. The system relies on a number of control panels and power interface units along with a series of cables and bulkhead connectors. There are two variants of the remote indicator units to make up the basic systems, although it should be stressed that the systems are configurable to meet almost any application.

RD401A RIU
This unit is used in applications where no external power is available, or where an uninterruptible status is required. The RD401A unit has integrated batteries so giving a constant indication of its own status and that of the attached RD298 ShockLog. The RD401A has 3 LED status lamps and a user reset button. One LED indicates the RD401A status, the second shows that the attached RD298 ShockLog is communicating (hence operational) and the third is used to indicate an alarm state.

RD401E RIU
The RD298 ShockLog combined with the RD401E RIU offers users the ability to have a visible alarm remote from the RD298 ShockLog. The RD401E RIU also allows the operator to reset the alarm condition, an action that is then recorded and time stamped by the RD298 ShockLog.

The RD401E RIU relies on an external power supply to illuminate the alarm lamp, when an event trips it. Pressing the reset button will cancel the light and record the date and time of reset in the RD298 memory.
