The ShockLog RD298 Special Filter versions of the Impact and Environmental Recorders provide continuous monitoring of the severity and duration of shock and vibration to large stationary or moving equipment, structures and storage environments. Offering customers outstanding value in today’s market and delivering measurable benefits, complimentary to any existing quality programme set up to achieve performance improvements, both in product reliability and damage limitation.
The Special Filter versions of the 298 ShockLog recorder have been developed in conjunction with numerous world class manufacturers within the Power transformer, Aerospace//defence and Medical equipment with one of the original solutions being developed with Boeing /NASA in order to monitor road shipments of the main Space Shuttle engines across America.
When shipping products consisting of a large amount of exposed metal (transformers, heat exchangers, generator sets, MRI scanners, Jet/Rocket engines) it is possible for sudden impacts on the metal surface (caused by loading chains, tools etc) to cause high frequency resonant signals to echo through the metal much like a bell. The standard RD298 may register this as a large value g event, when due to the high frequency nature of the signal; there is minimal duration to the event and therefore no potential for shock damage.
The Standard RD298 operates with a high frequency cut off filter set at 250Hz, the Special Filter range have brought this cut off down to reduce and potentially eliminate all high frequency events ensure that only the correct events are recorded.
The F1 Variant will filter out all signals above 40Hz
The F2 Variant will filter out all signals above 10Hz
The F5 Variant will filter out all signals above 90Hz
